The Shadow Cabinet

The Shades of London, #3

Well, after speed reading books one and two, over the past day, I am very happy that I had this book three. Book two ends on a cliffhanger that would have killed me if I would have read it when it was out back in 2012.

This is the LONG awaited book three in this series (series not trilogy, there is another book set with no release date!!!) and it picks up where book two leaves us off. We get some questions answered which was great. The story itself had a very frustrating romance. I was consistently wanting to bash my brains in (Would you people kiss already!). Those sections were very blah. Other parts were all over the place.

This plot was a really big mixing of good and bad. The characters were also a mix of good and boring and in this story the secondary characters shine more than the primary ones. The mythology in this one kinda made it feel like a completely different series at times, and it was very out of the blue. The world descriptions just felt very off and didn't capture the London setting like the previous book.

Note: It seems that book 4, whenever it is out, will be the last book in the series. For fans of this series I really hope that you don't have to wait another 3 years for it to release.
