A NIGHT OWL REVIEWS BOOK REVIEW | Reviewed by: Hitherandthee

What would you do, growing up thinking yourself a normal 18 year old girl, only to awake one day to find that you are, in fact, a powerful supernatural being with amazing abilities? This is the conundrum that our heroine, Emma, finds herself in at the start of this delightful novel. The story follows Emma’s journey to England and her heritage, bound deep in a supernatural village filled with gnomes, elves, fairies, dragons, and more. It also deals with her discovery of her own past, which before was shrouded in mystery. Emma must learn to accept things the way they are, and to grow within her own abilities to become the person she was meant to be all along. Somehow this part of the story reminded me of the same issue we must all face in the difficult transition from teenager to adult.

The story is beautifully written and completely delightful. The characters and storyline are well rounded and well written, and the storyline itself is beautifully sculpted. All in all, this entire book was a delightful read that I simply could not put down. A must read for anyone who has ever dreamed of fairy tales.

An American teen finds herself thrust into a world she never knew existed in England's magical community of Wode Gate. While dealing with gnomes, a cranky dragon, murder and mayhem, Emma tries to cope with her unwanted duties as Sentinel and fights to get back home again.

She finds that things aren't always what they seem, people aren't who they pretend to be, and someone wants her dead. The king of the underworld wants her too, but he may be the least of her problems as Emma struggles to control her powers—while losing her heart to a demon.
