This is what a young adult book should be. YA authors take notes. You don't need to dumb down a story that's addressed to a teen audience. You can have a compelling story that doesn't have to focus on two people wanting to jump each other's bones. The main female doesn't have to be a supposedly every girl character who is actually a Mary-Sue, and the main male does not have to be a controlling stalker.

A Touch Morbid features the same characters as A Touch Mortal with a few additions. It picks up right where A Touch Morbid leaves off so there isn't much left to wonder about what happens after everything on the roof. Everything about the book flows really well, the sentences feed nicely into each other and the pages just fly by.

Secrets of the Truth is a well thought out and well written first novel. Its intended audience is 12 and up. It manages to avoid adult themes, which is a relief when trying to find a book to recommend for a pre to early teen. It deals with realistic early teen reactions and realistic issues, while not just fantasy issues. I recommend this for people that liked Eregon and Harry Potter type books.
